About Us Info

Whether you enjoy swimming for fun, fitness, would like to improve stroke techniques or become involved in competitive swimming, the Mount Gambier Swimming Club can cater for your needs.

We are a family-friendly club that offers a fun and relaxed environment to swim in. We welcome swimmers of all ages, who have the ability to swim 50m freestyle. In recent years, we have had members from Under 10 to 40+.

Swimmers are more than welcome to come along for a couple of free training sessions. Please ring beforehand to confirm times.

Our Club is associated with

South East Swimming Association (which includes Mount Gambier, Penola, Bordertown and Keith)

Barwon South-West District (which includes Portland, Hamilton and Casterton in Victoria)

Swimming SA

The main swimming meets are held from December to March about every 2-3 weeks. There is also the opportunity to participate in additional swim meets. Swimmers are graded for each stroke according to their individual times, and are encouraged to improve upon their own times by swimming against others of a similar ability at swimming meets. These achievements are also recognised at our end of season dinner held in April/May.

Our club has swimmers who choose to compete at a higher level of swimming. Some events include:

South Australian Country Championships (held in January)

Victorian Country Competition in Melbourne

SAPSASA Swimming in Adelaide (with club members representing both Lower SE & Mid SE regions)

We also welcome swimmers who have been selected for SAPSASA swimming to come and train with our club.
